Selecting a Ceiling Fan For Your Mobile Home
Adding a ceiling fan for mobile home do-it-yourself project and can save you money on energy bills. There are many factors to consider when selecting a ceiling fan for your space, including the size of the room, blade span, motor size and pitch, style and noise level.
Before installing the ceiling fan, turn off electricity to the existing light fixture at the fuse box. Remove the screws that hold the old light to the electrical box and disconnect the wires. Next, use a ladder to mount the mounting bracket for the new fan. Once mounted, feed the wires through the canopy of the fan and hook one side to the white wires in your ceiling. Use the other side to connect to the bare copper ground wire that runs along your ceiling. If you have a slanted ceiling, install an adapter kit to hang your fan at the correct angle.

When selecting a ceiling fan, look for a model that has a built-in switch for controlling the speed of your blades. Fans with reversible motors can be used year-round in both warm and cold climates. During the summer, you can change the direction of the blades so that they spin in a counterclockwise motion to blow cool air down. Reversing the direction of the blades in winter pulls warm air that has risen to the ceiling back down to circulate throughout the room. Many fans also include light fixtures for a dual-purpose cooling and lighting solution.
