My view regarding voting

I struggle with the whole notion of voting.  But, I have decided to vote nonetheless, and to vote for a third party.  Though, I know many would say that I am wasting my vote, I will at least be voting more in keeping with my conscience. My problems with the majority parties is that neither reflects the values that I hold in relation to the Kingdom of God. I am of the belief that it is important to vote, but not as important as it is be involved in movements that strive for Justice. No change that has ever happened in society has been because of Electoral Politics. It has always happened because of grass roots movements calling, demanding, and even committing acts of Civil Disobedience, that society and governments change. Examples of these include, The Civil Rights Movement, the movement to end the war in Vietnam, the Anti Slavery movement, the Union Movement, the Suffrage Movement to get Women the right to vote, etc. That being said, I still believe voting can be important, if for nothing else then to let your voice be heard, speak your conscience, and try to bring down the domination of the 2 party system. But, my first concern, as citizen of God’s Kingdom, an ambassador, and a citizen of the world is to represent Kingdom values, including peace, justice for the poor, ending all “isms”, taking care of God’s creation, and ending Capitalism. I hope this helps . Thanks, Bruce
