Clean Out Your Closet!
God gives of himself freely. Were we to ever empty ourselves entirely, we would be filled with God. Empty ourselves of the passions (pride, lust, greed, anger, gluttony, envy, sloth), of course, yet also of our media: the signs we erect that point us to God in our own way, including the language we rely on, fallibly, to declare him. Regardless of how good or spiritual, any object between us and God keeps us from him. With no will of our own, and no creaturely faculties to recreate him, God becomes formless and we are free to experience true liberation: the mind of Christ, not I, but he that lives within. We can lay aside all sacrifice, except for that one: Life, the living sacrifice, moment by moment, breath by breath. He is the Life. In the closet of the soul, full of skeletons, he is the space between the bones. May we clean out our closets!
